Freya’s third birthday

It was Freya’s birthday on Friday. I took some video and have YouTubed a 10-minute clip of the day.

I’m 3!
We eventually managed to find a swimming pool that was open, although it did involve waiting until 11.30, dangerously close to lunch time and crèche starts at 2 p.m. Welcome to Luxembourg. She had a lot of fun though, and that’s the main thing. It was also Hamish’s first time at the pool and he seemed to enjoy himself too.

It’s too bad that I didn’t get any shots of the birthday cake that mummy made for Freya to take with her to the crèche:  lovely carrot cake with a ring of baby carrots to decorate it (the supermarket was out of sugared carrot decorations, or maybe they just stopped stocking them, like they seem to do with most things that we like – again, welcome to Lux). Carrot cake is rather alien to the Luxembourgers, so it’s nice to introduce them to it, particularly when it’s as nice as mummy’s is. Here’s the one she made for F’s first birthday.

So, while the day was not without stress, Freya had a lot of fun. And now she’s our big three-year-old. Wherever does the time go?

The years just seem to fly by at this age, probably at all ages actually.  My son is 3 and just went by so fast.  He also enjoys being in the swimming pool, not the swimming so much although he learning how to float, mostly he likes to just splash around

  2. First of all, let me say how lucky Freya is to have such a wonderful family. Never have I seen such a little sweetie so loved! ^__^ My sister watched your video with me, and she just walked out of the room in a huff saying, “That was the best birthday ever… Ever.” (I think she’s jealous of Freya.)

“Box of socks, box of socks!” Aw, I couldn’t help but smile when I saw Freya rip open all those presents. I loved that excited feeling of not knowing what I was going to get! You really made her day special. <3

By the way, I think the best gift you could have given her was to have an upbringing with such a cool accent. Scottish accents are my favorite accents in the world. It was so much fun to here you all talk! ^____^ I always feel silly with my American accent compared to yours, tee hee.

  3. [this is good] Hi Lauren

thank you so much for your comment and sorry I didn’t reply sooner – we were visiting the UK for ten days and I didn’t get online whilst I was away.

That’s so funny that you like the Scottish accent so much. For me it’s just how I talk, you know? Saying that though, it’s nice to visit Scotland again and feel in familiar accent territory! Lorraine actually has trouble understanding me when I go back home as I get ever more Scottish!
