18 months of sobriety

I got my 18-month chip at last night’s AA meeting. If I think about it, it’s really quite remarkable that I’ve gone quite this long without a drink, but I try not to think about it in those terms if I can help it. As they say, it’s just one day at a time and that’s all.

I don’t suppose my public blog is really the place to go into detail about what it was like before, what happened and what it’s like now, but I’m quite happy to be open and honest about my alcoholism. It helps me that way, and that might help others too. I will say that it was the Bowmore that tipped me over the edge for the last time. A damn fine malt indeed. If you’re so inclined, give it a try and tell them I sent you.

I plan to take care of step 4 this month. I’ve been putting it off for a while, but now’s the time. Wish me luck!
